​​​What type of hair do you work with?

I work with both human and animal hair (dog, cat, rabbit, horse, ...).

What type of ashes do you work with?

I work with the ashes from your pets (dog, cat, rabbit, bird, horse, ...).

What kind of hairwork techniques do you offer?

I make palette work (aka flatwork) hairwork keepsakes. 

This includes flat palette work, 3-dimensional palette work, braided hairwork (not requiring table work) as well as chopped or pulverized hair and sepia. 

I also occasionally make wirework flowers.

What kind of asheswork do you offer ?

I make ashes inclusion in jewelry pieces (pendants, rings, bracelets, earrings, ...). They may be left natural, formed in a shape (moon, silhouette, initials, ...), or with added decor (colored/shimmer pigment, lettering, ...). Asheswork can be combined with some hairwork, or the inclusion of teeth, claws or whiskers too.

Where do you work from?

I am a French hairwork / asheswork maker, working from France, where the roots of palette hairwork lay.

Can you work with hair / ashes from different people/pet? 

Of course, I can work with multiple people / pet hair / pet ashes in one creation.

What is the minimum length of hair required?

Using the palette technique, I can work with very little hair. Usually starting at 3 cm (1,2 in). Of course the techniques will need to be adapted, and some might not be possible depending on the length.

If you have available shorter hair than 3 cm (1,2 in), do not hesitate to contact me and we will see what is feasible. 

Of course, the longer the better in a way, as it is easier to work with. And if you wish to have a bigger scale keepsake. ​

What are the ashes requirement?

I usually need around a large tablespoon of ashes. A mix of ashes from the top and from the bottom of the urn, as the ones at the bottom usually are finer.

Can you work with matted hair? 

For some techniques, I can, but I do not recommend it, as it needs more preparation work.

What kind of keepsakes are available?

There are many options, be it modern or antique ones. I offer many options of cases (modern and antique options varies):

- wooden or metal frames of various sizes

- homemade frames of various sizes and shapes

- pendant, locket

- brooch

- ring

- earrings

- bracelet

- medallion

- glass globe with a base

Anytime possible, my hairworks are stuck on glass I cut myself. Just like they used to do in Victorian times. It gives a very unique depth to the final work. I can also work on various types of paper or materials. 

Hairworks are protected under glass (or similar for some small pieces). There is also the option of resin for hairwork jewelry (pendant, ring, brooch or bracelet). 

Asheswork are realized as resin inclusion, with jewelry of different finishes (stainless steel, brass, silver, gold ...).

How do I send the hair / ashes ?

Upon our consultation, I will explain how to safely send the hair and/or ashes to me, so that it is protected, and does not arrive matted or in a mess. Hair needs to be clean and dry.

Shipping costs for sending the hair / ashes to me are yours to cover.

I don't have any hair to provide, can I still have a custom commission made?

Of course you can. I have a stock of donated hair available to work with. Human hair, and some horsehair as well. Just contact me here, and we will discuss your project. ​​​

How does pricing work?

Pricing comes in two parts: the price of the hairwork / asheswork itself and the price of the case (pendant, frame, ...). 

Upon the consultation, I will give you an estimate of the final cost (hairwork/asheswork+case). It might evolve in the process depending on the state of the hair received, on unexpected changes or design modifications for instance. If the price should evolve from the estimate, I will contact you before proceeding. 

Shipping price is to be added. Please note that various duties or customs fees are yours to cover. 

If you would like insurance on your parcel, please contact me before I send the parcel.

When do I pay?

I require a 50% non-refundable deposit of the estimated price (hairwork+case) upon arrival of the hair / ashes, in order to secure your spot on the calendar.​​ 

Before shipping the finished hairwork / asheswork, the remaining balance, shipping costs and insurance (if wished) are due to be paid. Please note there might be duties fees or customs, depending on the countries. They are yours to cover. I am not responsible for any shipping delays, once the parcel is sent.

Is there a size limit for the frames?

Not at all, if you have enough hair to provide, we can go big !

I have no idea of what I want the final hairwork / asheswork to look like, can I still contact you?

Yes, you can, definitely. We will exchange together and find an idea which suits you.

How to care for my keepsake? 

Hair is a rot-proof material, but please keep in mind hairworks, any kinds, are fragile and delicate. Please keep them away from direct sunlight and humidity and avoid shocks. 

Resin pieces, while sturdy, are still delicate. Keep them away from humidity and extreme conditions. It is also subject to scratches if not cared for properly.
